Take An Ancient Step On The Broomway

Updated: Jul 28

During the next few months we will be rolling out a range of adventures and challenges and WildBase initiatives.

Our August event promises to be unique.

Those of you familiar with our Adventure Zoomcasts might have heard Fred talk about The Broomway in Essex, being one of his first post lockdown trips.

Well, he didn't want to go alone so we’ve arranged a WildBase event where on August 30th, we invite you to join us for a truly special trip along Britain's most dangerous path.

The Broomway is one of those old paths almost forgotten by time. For years, the only way to get to Foulness island from the UK mainland was marked by broom handles.

When the wind is low, the large shallow pools of sea water can mirror the sky and the horizon line disappears, making distant container ships appear to levitate.

Eerie and mysterious, we’ve teamed up with a specialist to walk us safely along this haunting path and return to a roaring fire for a refreshing drink and slice of cake.

It will be an exceptional and memorable experience, guided by experts and in the words of our Fred …”definitely one not to be missed”

To whet your appetite further, watch The Ancient Tidal Path

**Alert: The Broomway contains many hidden dangers and must NOT be completed independently. We are running this trip with someone who has expert tidal and navigational knowledge with agreement from the MOD**
